Claudia Koken (admitted to the Bar in 2000) advises on the full range of Dutch and European competition law, state aid, corporate compliance (inclusive anti-bribery, anti-corruption, ethics) and consumer law. Claudia has over 25 years of work experience. Until June 2022 Claudia was active on the market under the name C-law Competition Lawyers.
Claudia started her career in 1998 as a regulator with the Dutch competition authority. Subsequently, she worked as a competition lawyers for the global law firms BakerMcKenzie, and Norton Rose Fulbright, in Amsterdam and Brussels and as Partner for two Dutch law firms.
Claudia has successfully assisted dozens of enterprises in obtaining clearance from The Hague and Brussels for a merger or acquisition. She has a great deal of experience with multi- jurisdiction cartel investigations and leniency applications. Moreover, she frequently goes ‘in-house’ on strategic competition and compliance secondment projects with corporates.
In addition to her work as a lawyer, Claudia is co-founder and board member of W@CompetitionNL (a Dutch platform for women competition professionals, and part of the international W@ organisation) and guest lecturer in competition law at Tilburg University.
Claudia studied Dutch law at Maastricht University (LL.M)(1996) and European law at the University of Amsterdam (LL.M)(1997). Subsequently, she completed four postgraduate programmes in: Dutch and European competition law (2001), in Mergers and Acquisitions (2010), in Privacy and Data Protection Law (2017), and in US Law (George Washington University Law School, GWU)(2019).
